Common questions
I forgot my backup password
Your backup password encrypts your data locally. We cannot reset it. If you have your 12-word recovery phrase, you can restore your wallet directly from the app.
I lost my recovery phrase
If you set up an email backup, you can recover using your email and backup password. If you have neither, your funds cannot be recovered. This is the nature of self-custody.
My balance shows zero
Pull down to refresh. If the issue persists, check your internet connection. Your funds are on the blockchain — they cannot disappear from the app.
How are my keys protected?
Your 12-word recovery phrase is encrypted using AES-256 via your device's hardware-backed security (iOS Keychain with Secure Enclave, or Android Keystore with TEE/StrongBox). Keys are never transmitted, never stored on any server, and are wiped from memory immediately after each transaction is signed.
Can a hacker steal my keys?
On a non-compromised device, your keys are protected by hardware-level encryption that even Klipbit cannot access. However, no mobile wallet — including Phantom, Trust Wallet, or BlueWallet — can protect against a fully compromised (jailbroken or rooted) device. This is an operating system limitation, not specific to Klipbit. For maximum security: use a non-jailbroken device, keep your OS updated, and never install apps from unknown sources.
